2023 Baseless allegations, no plans to change locations of polling units – INEC replies APC. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied the All Progressives Congress (APC(APC) )’s claim that the commission intended to move polling places.
On Monday, INEC disclosed this information.
As previously reported by DAILY POST, the APC said on Sunday that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), INEC, and the incumbent party had agreed to plans to relocate polling places in order to influence the outcome of the 2023 elections.
By way of Olawale Sadare, the APC’s publicity secretary, the PDP was allegedly the target of a vote-rigging plot by the INEC.
“Makinde, already sensing the signals pointing to his inevitable electoral doom, has issued a standing instruction to some bad eggs within the Oyo State office of INEC to immediately relocate several polling units across the state from their advertised addresses to unknown or obscure locations,” the APC stated in a statement. However, INEC characterized the APC accusation as unfounded in its response.
The commission stated that it had no plans to relocate any of the state’s voting venues.
In an interview with DAILY POST on Monday, Mrs. Rosemary Alaba Adeniyi, the head of INEC’s Department of Voter Education, Publicity, Gender, and Civil Society in Oyo State, called the APC accusation “baseless.”
There is absolutely no truth to that accusation, Adeniyi stated in a telephone interview with the Daily Post on Monday.
“Everyone was aware that INEC had increased polling units the previous year.”
