We have allocated a total of 470.0 billion in the 2023 budget from our limited resources, in a deliberate attempt to address the problem, for revitalization and wage increases in the tertiary institutions.
Buhari said that it’s important to remember that the government cannot secure the money for tertiary education on its own.
“In the majority of nations, the expense of education is jointly borne by the people and the government, particularly at the tertiary level. Therefore, it is essential that we implement a more sustainable form of tertiary education finance.
The administration “remains dedicated to implementing agreements agreed with staff unions within the limits of available resources,” he continued. We have been adamant that we won’t sign any agreements that we won’t be able to carry out because of this. To maintain stability in the educational system, individual institutions would be urged to adhere to any agreement achieved in due order.
