Buhari is excited by Fayemi’s election as FORAF President.. In his position as Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, President Muhammadu Buhari has praised the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who was elected President of the Forum of Regions of Africa (FORAF) (NGF). Following a conference over the weekend in the Casablanca area of Morocco, the election was held.
The most recent stance was verified to State House Correspondents on Monday in a statement by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.
At State House, the President welcomed a group that included Fayemi, Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, and Gov. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State. He stated, “Despite the security issues we have, it is encouraging to know that other nations continue to have faith in our potential. Congratulations on treating Nigeria fairly. We appreciate you.
President Buhari also praised all other nations for standing in line behind Nigeria to become FORAF President, praising them for their display of unity and fraternity.
Governor Sule reported that the conference, where regional concerns were discussed and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) were signed on many topics including agriculture, mining, education, scholarships, and many more, was well attended by governors and participants from over 22 African nations.
He continued, saying that while vice presidents were elected from South Africa for Southern Africa, Kenya for East Africa, Morocco for Northern Africa, and Cameroon for Central Africa while Nigeria, from West Africa, won the presidency.
The goal of FORAF, according to Governor Fayemi, who will hand over the presidency to the following NGF president once his term ends, is to make sub-nationals economic engines that “lower strain on central governments.”
In addition, he said FORAF served as a unifying force for States (also known as Regions, Counties, or Provinces in other nations) “to establish a globally renowned continent,” arguing that Nigeria’s victory was proof of how well regarded President Buhari is in Africa.
“Once they knew Nigeria was interested in the role, other nations immediately withdrew their offers,”
