Buhari reacts as NDLEA boss, Marwa makes highest drug bust. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s (NDLEA) recent accomplishments in dismantling some international drug gangs have prompted President Muhammadu Buhari to respond.

According to his spokesperson, Femi Adesina, Buhari contacted Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd) from the United States to congratulate him on his accomplishments.

In recent operations, the CIA dismantled a global criminal cartel and retrieved 1,855 kg of cocaine.

At the moment, Buhari is in New York, attending the 77th meeting of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 77).

The news of recent accomplishments by the agency under Marwa’s direction, according to Buhari, makes him happy.

“I sincerely appreciate the effort you have made to eliminate the drug threat. As I continue to monitor the accomplishments made under your leadership, it makes my heart happy,” Buhari reportedly stated, according to Adesina.

Buhari urged the Chairman to continue the good job, saying that the Chairman has shown that choosing him to lead the agency was not a mistake.

In a meeting with members of his delegation later, the President reportedly said, “Buba Marwa is doing well. That’s a lot of cocaine—two tonnes.

Remember how the NDLEA had proclaimed the “largest cocaine seizure” worth over 278 million dollars and the arrest of drug lords, including a foreign national, in a significant operation spanning many sites in Lagos over the course of two days.
