EPL Louis van Gaal clears air on telling Dutch stars not to join Man United. Coach of the Netherlands’ national team, Louis van Gaal, has reacted angrily to reports that he advised several of his players not to sign with Manchester United this summer.
Some players of the Dutch team, according to reports, claimed that the former Manchester United manager counseled them against joining the club.
Erik ten Hag, a former Ajax manager, joined Manchester United in the summer and shown interest in a number of Eredivisie players.
Ten Hag chose Feyenoord striker Cody Gakpo and Jurrien Timber. Van Gaal advised Timber and Gakpo not to leave their present clubs in the summer since the World Cup would begin in November.
Van Gaal stated, “Many players have phoned me, it is true,” according to the de Telegraaf.
