EPL Michael Owen backs Klopp to drop Liverpool star against Arsenal. Michael Owen, a former striker for Liverpool, has endorsed manager Jurgen Klopp in his decision to sit midfielder Fabinho for the Reds’ Premier League matchup against Arsenal this weekend. In Owen’s opinion, Fabinho has been one of Liverpool’s team’s “poorer players” thus far this year.

The Liverpool team that defeated Rangers 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday did not include Fabinho.

Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson sat in midfield as the German switched to a new 4-2-3-1 formation.

Owen told BT Sport, “I think he [Klopp] may maybe consider about going again (with the same formation versus Arsenal) (via Liverpool Echo).

“Fabinho is one of the worse players, but I adore him and think he is fantastic. However, I do concur that playing four of them against a hot Arsenal squad was incredibly daring, and it will inspire him to think strategically going forward.
