Ogun State has been recognized by the Federal Government’s National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) as the South Western Nigerian state with the greatest performance in terms of routine immunization and COVID-19 vaccination.

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, was thanked for his “commitment and support towards improving the performance of Routine Immunization and other PH services in Ogun State and Nigeria in general” in a letter dated August 15, 2022, and signed by the NPHCDA Executive Director, Dr. Faisal Shuaib.

“On behalf of the administration of NPHCDA, I wish to recognize your commitment and support towards increasing the effectiveness of Routine Immunization and other PH services in Ogun State and Nigeria generally,” the letter’s opening line reads.

Gov. Abiodun on top again, wins FG’s immunisation performance award, this is to inform Your Excellency that the Federal Government, through NPHCDA, will recognize and reward Best Performing States in Routine Immunization and COVID-19 Vaccination as part of the activities to mark 2022 African Vaccination Week (AVW) and the third year anniversary of Wild Polio Virus (WV) eradication in Nigeria. Long Life for All, Vaccinate for Healthy Living is the topic for the 2022 AVW.

“I am pleased to notify Your Excellency that Ogun State won the South-West Zone award for Best Performing State in COVID-19 Vaccination.

Thank you, Your Excellency. During the celebration of the African Vaccination Week in 2022 and the commemoration of the three years following the WV Free Certification, the State will receive the Immunization Performance Recognition Award.

As a result, the letter’s final sentence read, “This is to humbly ask Your Excellency to receive the Immunization Performance Recognition Award for Ogun State at the Award Ceremony.”
