Help Bayelsa, others – Buhari directs emergency bodies, reveals cause of flooding. In Bayelsa and other Nigerian States, President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his outrage at the extent of the floods.

He bemoaned the fact that the flood had destroyed 33 States throughout the nation.

All federal agencies involved in disaster relief and administration were ordered by Buhari to help the State in need.

According to state official reports, around 300 towns and villages in five of the state’s eight local government units have lost roughly 700,000 of their residents.

Buhari, though, attributed the disaster to locals’ obstructing rivers and disdain for early warning signs.

According to Garba Shehu, Buhari’s spokesman, “Buhari blamed buildings on water channels, disregard for early warning by the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, and the changes to weather caused by climate change as the main causes of the floods that have so far hit 33 of the nation’s 36 states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory which has not been spared either.”

“Work towards the restoration of normalcy in the damaged sections of the federation,” he commanded everyone.

The president sent his sympathies to the flood victims’ families as well as to everyone else who was impacted.
