How two internet fraudsters killed colleague – Osun police. Wahab Hammed, 28, and Adegoke Ayobami, 31, have been detained by the Osun State Police Command on suspicion of conspiring to commit murder, armed robbery, and other crimes.
The two were detained after a missing person case was filed at the B Division Modakeke on August 7, 2022, according to the Osun State Police Command spokeswoman, Yemisi Opalola, during a suspect parade on Tuesday at the police headquarters in Osogbo.
“Immediately, preliminary inquiry was carried out, and one Wahab Hammed friend of the missing person, one Oguntade Wasiu now deceased, was detained in connection with the crime,” said Opalola.
As a result, the matter was given to the Command State Criminal Investigation Department’s Anti-Robbery department for a discrete investigative. Quickly, the team stretched its investigation tentacles to the Alaro neighborhood of Modakeke, where one Adegoke Ayobami was apprehended on December 8, 22.
According to Opalola, the investigation showed that the suspects and the victim were friends who also committed online fraud.
According to her, “The duo planned and took their friend (the deceased) to an unfinished building in a secluded section of Alaro region, Modakeke in an attempt to collect money from him and in the course of struggle he was slain. They had learned that the dead was constantly generating money more than them.
The victim’s motorbike, which was found in the home of the second suspect, was taken by the accused.
She stated that as soon as the investigation is over, the suspects would be prosecuted in court.
The spokesman for the Osun Police Command also gave the assurance that Commissioner of Police Olawale Olokode will keep his prior vow not to turn the State into a refuge for criminals.
