Insecurity Amotekun impounds 80 motorcycles in Ondo, Agents of the Amotekun Corps, a division of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, have seized no less than 80 motorbikes.
The motorcycles were confiscated for violating the laws that forbade the use of okada in the state between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
The State Government had ordered last month that nightclub activities after midnight and motorbike operations outside of the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. be prohibited.
The edict, according to Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, state commander of the Amotekun Corps, was an effort to rid the state of people and organizations with a criminal bent.
The Amotekun Commander reported that his soldiers had been placed in an excellent position to apprehend the offenders and that the arrest had been made.
Because they must have legitimate identification cards before riding motorbikes, he claims that only law enforcement personnel or those providing critical services are allowed to move during that time.
He asserted that this resulted from the Okada riders being held responsible for the majority of state-wide illicit behavior.
Adeleye promised that the limitation will be rigorously enforced by the government body.
“No movement of Okada again, in that case, anybody spotted with Okada at night would be presumed to be a criminal and will be treated as such,” he said.
