Insecurity deteriorated under APC govt – Senator Makarfi

Insecurity deteriorated under APC govt – Senator Makarfi. Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, a former governor of Kaduna State, blasted the APC-led administration on Friday, alleging that practically everything, including security, has gotten worse.

Our Kaduna-based journalist listened in on an interview with Makarfi, a senator who was elected during the eighth assembly.

The former senator, who oversaw Kaduna State from 1999 to 2007, claimed that many Nigerians are unable to visit their relatives, go to the market, or go to the farm because of insecurity. He added that when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was in power, insecurity only affected the country’s North East, but that was still enough time for general elections to be held.

Think about what is occurring in the North West, North Central, and South. “Almost everything is tough to accomplish in Nigeria; farming has become exceedingly difficult, as has doing business and visiting customers,” he stated.

He asserted that the PDP will offer extremely strong leadership that will confront and address the issues if Nigerians give the party another chance.

“Even though the PDP was already addressing the issue and that is why the poll was held in the North East, they inherited the Boko Haram insurgency in the region. We didn’t claim that insecurity prevented us from holding elections, but there is now a concern that some areas in Kaduna State won’t allow political activity, let alone elections. In the past, this has never occurred, he said.

He claimed that if you inherited anything in the North East, you should take care of it, but instead of taking care of the problem, it has worsened to other parts.

He asserts that the only way to move forward is to have capable leadership that is capable of handling the crisis.
