LaLiga Real Madrid consider Xabi Alonso as future manager. According to ESPN, Xabi Alonso’s performance as manager of Bayer Leverkusen will be closely watched by Real Madrid.
The former midfielder for Liverpool, Madrid, and Bayern Munich is seen by Los Blancos as a possible contender to lead the club at the Bernabeu.
Leverkusen hired Alonso on October 5 after the Bundesliga’s first eight league games produced just five points.
The 40-year-old got the chance to compete for and learn from managers like Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti, Rafa Benitez, and Jose Mourinho.
Alonso is well-known at Madrid since he managed their under-14 team for the 2018–19 season in his first coaching position after spending five years there as a player.
After three years in charge of Real Sociedad’s B squad, he continued to make an impression, guiding them to their first promotion to Spain’s Second Division in 60 years in 2021.
Madrid is now interested in how Alonso grows in this new stage of his coaching career with Leverkusen, where he has been hired for the first time in the top division.
