NDLEA arrests 56 suspects in Kogi. Between July and September 2023, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, or NDLEA, detained 56 people in Kogi State for drug-related offenses. This was revealed on Monday by the NDLEA’s Kogi State Commandant, Abdulkadir Fakai Abdullahi, when he turned over four alleged offenders to the Nigerian Police Force in Lokoja.
According to information obtained by DAILY POST, two of the suspected criminals were apprehended on the 17th of September 2022 while transporting 18 pump-action guns, 1300 cartridges, and ammunition in a J-5 bus, while the other two were apprehended while transporting 1000 live cartridges/ammunition in a luxurious bus.
Speaking during the handover event, Abdullahi emphasized that the war on drugs was everyone’s concern and urged the audience to support the agency at all times.
While listing the accomplishments of the agency over the last three months, the NDLEA head stated that they were successful in charging 11 cases before the Federal High Court Lokoja and convicted seven of the accused.
Aniefiok Wilson Akpa, the deputy commissioner of police in charge of the criminal investigation department, Kogi State command, received the items for further investigation and prosecution, and he praised the cooperation between the police and the NDLEA.
He urged the general people and other interested parties, such as the media, to constantly provide timely information so that security services could take appropriate action.
