Nwosu lacks power to expel party members – ADC caretaker chair, Akwashiki, Senator Patricia Akwashiki, the African Democratic Congress’ (ADC) acting national chairman, said that Ralphs Nwosu, the party’s outgoing national chairman, lacked the authority to expel any party members.
In a statement released on Saturday, Akwashiki stated that ADC has moved on and asked Nwosu to face reality, emphasizing that there is no provision in the party constitution for a life national chairperson.
Dumebi Kachikwu, a candidate for president in the 2023 elections, and seven ADC State Chairmen, including Mr. Kennedy Odion of Edo State, Mr. Kingsley Oggah of Kogi State, Mr. Bello Isiyaku of Sokoto State, Mr. Kabiru Hussaini of Jigawa State, Mr. Clement Ehigiator of FCT, Mr. Musa Hassan of Niger State, and Mr. (Nasarawa State).
She compared the former chairman, Nwosu, like a drowning man grasping at straws in her description of his behavior.
“Nwosu is the previous chairman, whose term has expired, who now intends to bring the party down because he failed in his attempt to prolong his term after serving as party chairman for 17 years,” she stated.
As he is being investigated by the Nigerian Police for fraud, forgery, and impersonation, “all expulsions and suspensions from Nwosu and his cabal are purely a diversionary and a face-saving maneuver.”
She thus urged the general public to disregard any remarks made by Nwosu or any other former National Working Committee member.
Akwashiki emphasized that ADC would not be bought or sold and would not form an alliance.
The troubled Nwosu has petitioned the court to contest his dismissal, according to the interim chairman, who advised him to “stop making a fool of himself” and wait for the court’s decision.
