Ogun Amosun group unveils Otegbeye as ADC governorship candidate, The African Democratic Congress has introduced the governorship candidate for Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the former governor of Ogun State (ADC).
The contender is an Ogun native from Yewa South Local Government Area named Barrister Biyi Otegbeye.
The organization also declared Otegbeye’s running partner to be Alhaji Olatunde Awonuga from Ogun Waterside Local Government.
At a meeting on Monday at the former governor’s Ibara home, Otegbeye and his running mate were introduced.
According to DAILY POST, Amosun personally attended the event along with other All Progressives Congress faction members (APC).
In 2019, Otegbeye ran as the APC’s candidate for the House of Representatives in the Yewa South and Ipokia Federal Constituency.
He had left the Amosun camp and joined the Prince Dapo Abiodun group in order to run on the APC ticket, declining the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) ticket that the then-governor had given.
Otegbeye returned to the Amosun camp before the elections in 2023 and was given the APC’s ticket.
Gov. Abiodun won the primary election, and the lawyer went to court as a result.
Otegbeye abandoned his lawsuit against Abiodun, and the court dismissed the case as he left the APC to pursue his goals on the platform of the ADC.
According to DAILY POST, the APC in Ogun is split between Abiodun and Amosun groups.
The Abiodun faction was acknowledged by the party’s national leadership despite the fact that the two groups conducted concurrent ward, local government, and state congresses.
