PDP suspends Dotun Babayemi over anti-party activities

Dotun Babayemi, a PDP candidate for governor, has been suspended by the PDP’s Osun State chapter.

In his ward, Otun Balogun ward 2, Ayedaade Local Government, Gbongan, Babayemi was placed on administrative leave.

Regarding the dispute over who the legitimate gubernatorial candidate for the party is in the state, Babayemi is currently seeking justice.

He won the PDP’s parallel governorship primary, but the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) named Senator Ademola Adeleke, the winner and newly elected governor, as the party’s nominee.

However, Babayemi was dismissed from the PDP for allegedly engaging in anti-party actions.

The announcement was made by the Otun Balogun 2 Ward Executive members on Friday at a press conference held at the state party headquarters in Osogbo.

The factional governorship candidate was kicked out of the party as a result of a petition that was submitted against him by some party members, according to the address read on behalf of the Ward EXCO by the Ward Secretary, Ogunleye Bukayo.

“The Ward Executive Committee of the Party heard the report of the disciplinary committee at its meeting on July 20, 2022, and ratified the report of the disciplinary committee after thorough and extensive debate.

The Ward Executive Committee of the Party hereby removes and expels Prince Dotun Babayemi from the People’s Democratic Party in accordance with the authority granted to it by sections 57(2) and 59(1)(g) of the PDP constitution. He is no longer a PDP member as a result, according to Ogunleye.
