We won 12-0, I scored 9 – Broja reveals why he joined Chelsea, Armando Broja, an attacker for Chelsea, has explained why he chose the club over Tottenham Hotspur.
While on loan at Southampton in the Premier League last season, Broja made an impression, scoring six goals in 32 games.
The 21-year-old has appeared in six games for Chelsea so far this season in all competitions.
After spending two years at the Tottenham youth, the Albanian international moved on to Chelsea in 2009.
He made his Chelsea debut during the 2019–2020 season.
When asked why he chose to leave Tottenham for Chelsea, Broja told The Players’ Tribune, “I remember coming to a competition. Actually, the Tottenham [Hotspur] scout came to see another youngster.
“They reached my mother and father before I even heard about it since I obviously played well in that tournament and won the best player and top goalscorer awards.
“We switched to the opposing side of the field and played them.
“I think I scored nine goals, and we won 12-0. The two Chelsea men arrived right away and said, “Wow, we want you.”
“When they stated that, I had just one thought in mind: I wanted to sign up with Chelsea.
I joined Chelsea towards the conclusion of U9s and the beginning of U10s, so it certainly did happen eventually, and I have been there ever since.
